Early Childhood Educator

Whitevalley Community Resource Centre is looking for an ECE/Program Manager to work up to 4 days a week at the Lumby Preschool starting September 2022; with the possibility of additional hours starting immediately.

Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, ECE wage enhancement for those who qualify, some paid continuing education, paid sick days, and free parking.

The successful candidates will have the following:

  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate
  • Experience and training working with children ages 3 to 5 years old.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in order to work well with children, other staff, volunteers, parents and the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Record of Compliance with BC immunization program
  • 1 year experience is an asset

The successful candidate will be passionate and compassionate, have a positive attitude, be a team player, problem-solver, and great communicators.

Job Duties include:

  • Promote, coordinate and facilitate the Lumby Preschool programs
  • Develop and deliver an interactive, respectful learning program designed to engage and educate young children. 
  • Establish and implement policy and procedures meeting licensing requirements.
  • Scheduling staff and volunteers.
  • Liaise with facility personnel and Whitevalley staff
  • Document program statistics, evaluate and make recommendations
  • Complete reports as required
  • Ensure licensing requirements are in place, are adhered to and all staff are up to date.
  • Work within the budget guidelines.

Assist in the development and implementation of programs and activities that are consistent with agency core values and core programming areas. Ensure that programs developed, engage participants, address healthy positive child development and provide participants with a sense of belonging. Provide a nurturing, fun and safe environment for children Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians. Ensure that specific goals of the children and program are met


  • Early Childhood Assistant Certification

Whitevalley Community Resource Centre requires a part time School-Based Outreach Worker.  With the support and direction from the School Based Team, the successful candidate will be required to work independently, often in stressful and isolated conditions with clients who have life events that are hindering them from being the most successful student that can be.  This may include physical and emotional abuse, drug/alcohol problems and a variety of other mental health issues/concerns. SBO Workers are required to respond to a variety of client crisis situations. In all cases, the safety of children will be the ultimate goal.  SBO’s work most often with clients in the schools; but also in their homes and in the community,

Hours of Work: Typical week is Tuesday to Friday working with two local schools; there may be some evenings on occasion; 28 hours per week

Education, training and experience

  • Education and Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in a related human / social service field.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and suitable drivers abstract.
  • A reliable vehicle (safety inspected) with appropriate insurance·
  • Criminal Record Check

**This is a term position runs September to June 2022 with the likely possibility of beginning again in September 2022 **  The position works to the school calendar.

Position Overview:
– Responsible for meal preparation and adheres to established portion control for all aspects of the meals
– Ensure all volunteers involved in meal service observe and demonstrate safe food handling protocols and procedures while assisting with preparation
– Assist with menu planning, estimate food requirements and costs
– Ensures program participants are offered nourishing, varied and balanced meals prepared in accordance with standardized recipes and a pre-determined menu plan;
– Maintains established food rotations in storage in order to minimize spoilage and waste.
– Works within the operating budget by following the standardized menu plans
– Experience in volume food preparation;
– Formal culinary training an asset;
– Valid Food Safe Certificate;
– Knowledge of inventory control and food storage procedures;
– Ability to organize and prepare nutritious and appealing meals with minimal supervision and respond to the changing needs and preferences of residents;
– Knowledge of provincial health, sanitation and safety regulations an asset
– Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
– Ability and desire to confidently lead by example and contribute to a positive, supportive manor
– Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
– Criminal Record Check
– Proof of valid COVID-19 vaccination
